Only lead the horse to the water, don't make it drink
Everyone has an opinion, everyone is also entitled to have their own opinion, everyone has their own way of handling things, everyone has their own way of doing things. And we people very often feel the necessity to always tell people how we would be doing it or rather what people should be doing.
Especially as a streamer, this is something you encounter all the time. It almost feels like you are a pinball. If you play MTT's, there are people asking you why you are not playing Cash games or Sit and Go's. If you play Sit and Go's, there are people asking you why you are not playing MTT's. Sometimes they are even the same people asking you. If you are annoyed about losing a deep run, there will be people telling you that you shouldn't be tilting. If you talk about your process, the things you are going through, there will be people telling you not to and to talk about poker instead. Or that you are privileged and that you have no idea what you are talking about.
I think a lot of people are missing the big picture and don't see what is actually going on. Whether you are doing it with the best intentions or not, you cannot make someone do what you want them to do, they are not your puppet. You can lead a horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink. Respect that. It is not coming at your expense, it is their loss. Let others do things like they ought is best. If they fail, maybe they will learn from it, maybe they won't.
If I look at myself, I always used to feel the necessity to convince people all the time about things. It was just my insecurity, a lack of confidence. If someone didn't believe me or didn't do anything with it, it hurt my confidence, I felt less worthy and also I took it personal. But more and more I am able to detach. Being fine with giving my two cents, trying to bring value and someone doing absolutely nothing with it or doing something with it without giving credit. I don't feel that necessity anymore to chase that affirmation. The reason why is because all I can do is lead the horse to the water, bring as much value as I can and don't expect the horse to drink. I am more and more fine with people not listening to me, because I have gained belief in my own judgement.
So I know how it is to lead the horse and to be the horse and what I have learned from it, is that the one guiding the horse should only guide it and respect the horse if it decides not to drink. The horse will be the one thirsty if it doesn't drink, not the one guiding. Maybe the horse will learn from it and drink next time, maybe it won't.
I have my good days and my bad days, we all do, it is normal and I embrace it. I don't expect everyone to always like that, I understand and respect that lots of you only come to Twitch to have a good time. But I am documenting my story, showing both sides of the coin, showing my progress. And whether I have a good day or a bad day, I notice that I learn and improve every single day. I will always learn to drink at some point, because I am really self aware, constantly looking for ways to improve. I just hope that you give me the time, to work on my craft, learn from my weak moments and polish the diamond and respect me as much as I respect you.
