"Emotionbunker"
Today's blog is a note to myself: stay in your "emotionbunker". This post may make a lot of people mad, but please hear me out.
There will always be a moment that someone lets you down. There will always be a moment where you disagree with someone. There will always be a moment where someone says something negative about you. And it is important in those moments that you do not lose yourself.
It is so easy to start valuing other's opinions over your own, but let me tell you this and you are not going to like it: at the end, you are on your own. When everybody goes to bed or everyone turns around to do their thing, there is no one else to rely on but you. Once you understand that and know that you do not need anyone to succeed, all of a sudden you become really emotionally strong. You and your mind are one, because they have to be because you are on your own, there is no one in your operating system but you, you do not rely on anyone but you. You do not have anyone to blame, but you. That is the moment, there are no more excuses and you start moving real fast.
Now this does not mean you shouldn't work together with the people around you and it also definitely doesn't mean you should turn in a prick. What I am trying to say, is that it is important to stay in control of your emotions at all times. Take the good with you, but also do not let that overtake your mind and definitely leave the bad behind.
Just focus on doing your thing, whatever that might be, playing poker.... university... whatever. It doesn't matter what Billy85 does or thinks or says, we just gotta focus on what we can do and what we can influence. Stop depending on what others say. Cuz what happens is you are going to flow on the highs and you are going to be in a rut when people don't give you the highs. Like I talked about in my previous blog post, we get accustomed to the highs, you need more and more of it to continue to give you the same feeling as it did in the beginning. I think it is important in a community but also with the people around you in real life, that you stay in your own, let's call it the "emotionbunker", where no compliment, nor harassment can come in. Don't get it twisted, I called it the emotionbunker for a reason, we still listen to people's advice and opinions so we can continue to improve ourselves but we do not let it affect our emotional state.
