How to get more done

Another week has passed and like I said in my previous blog, it was indeed a messy one. Been feeling pretty drained the past week, not waking up pumped, waking up late while not going to bed too late. Not fully inspired/motivated, not feeling like doing anything. So that's also kinda what I have been doing. Miraculously I have still been able to put out content each day on socials, but other than that, I haven't done too much. Put out a YouTube video, was still active on socials and discord but... there have been days where I was just sitting and thinking.

As you all know, I always try to analyze what I do and very often I notice where things started to derail and where I can improve. This time.. I just don't know. I think it has just been a clusterfuck. Lot of small and uncontrollable things coming together. Funeral messed with my head, but also before I was just really drained which could have been caused by the mind or maybe I was just ill... been waking up tired so figure haven't been having the best quality of sleep lately.. all for unknown reasons to me. All I can do is guess what went wrong and accept that it did. One of the causes could be that I haven't taken any quality breaks. Sure I took for example a Sunday off, but to do what? Not to walk in the park and enjoy the girlfriend, imagine btw lol. No, it was to create other forms of content. A day off has been meaning to me; no stream. Not; not working. And I have been taking on lots of things and I think whether we like it or not, it always comes with some stress.. we all have 24 hours in our day. The question you have to ask yourself is: how do some get more out of those 24 hours? I think the answer is that some things are more important than others, things aren't equal.

What I mean by that is, very often when we make to-do lists, we want to do it all, so we run, we stress, we get it done, we're glad we did. And that goes well for some time, but slowly but surely it starts to drain you and it takes more and more energy to get those things done. So how do some get "more" done, meaning get better results, in their 24 hours? They prioritize. Things don't matter equal, you may have heard of the 80/20 rule. Well there are tons of 80/20 rules, but the one I am referring to is the 80/20 rule where 20% of your work leads to 80% of your results. Which also means the other 80% of your work, leads to only 20% of your results. Of course numbers may be different, but the idea behind it stays the same. So you might be doing more and more and more, but the upside of that is very little, yet it can cause you to derail.

So what I think is going to be important for me, is to start prioritizing things. Still writing down what needs to be done, what I want to do etc, but trying to narrow that down to the things that actually matter and will bring me the closest to my goals. This will cause me to be more effective and efficient, leaving me more time to keep my head straight, stay healthy.. while still getting the results I am after, maybe even more. I still have to make those lists, prioritize and really map out where I want to go, but there is one thing, that stands out to me immediately: the stream.

Streaming is great, it's mostly a lot of fun, but it also takes lots and lots of time and is in my case thus really inefficient. In all honesty, I think it is inefficient for the big majority of streamers, other than the tippy the top. It is not the best way to grow your brand, because Twitch is not really a discoverable platform, but also: it is live. Meaning people (can) mainly only watch when you are live, meaning they mostly cannot watch whenever they want to. And what is the most valuable thing for people? Their time. So I think personally, this blog, my content on socials, the discussions/chats in discord are so much more valuable than the stream, much more efficient. Especially with poker, poker grinds can suck. Which very often leads to a mediocre stream, I find it tough to have a great time when the poker sucks hard. With videogames... I find it personally a bit easier.

So what does this all mean? Do I stop streaming? No. It's just me saying that it's important to be more thoughtful about how you spend your time and energy. Planning to be back streaming tomorrow, but we will see how things go, don't want to rush things. Happiness>everything.
