Focus by imbalance

February is already a wrap and it was an interesting month. Previous years always struggled with focus in February, due to celebrating birthdays and struggling to get back to a good schedule. This year I feel like I did a much better job at it. Would say this had mainly to do with having build better habits and structure around me, which pushes you in the right direction and gets you back on track. In January I went on a pretty decent downswing after winning the $109 to start the year, this unfortunately continued in February till the 3rd week. Since then we basically won 100 buyins back, yesterday had a good shot to win some more back in the $55 bounty but results wise made the wrong call as 2nd in chips vs the chipleader to bust even before the money! The past week I have been playing way more, grinded 4 days in a row for 6-8 hours each day and the stream was number wise pretty good too! Results wise it was breaking even unfortunately, had various FT's but it was not meant to be as we were pretty unfortunate in them as well as our bigger buyins.

It is important you spend your time wisely

This month I am planning to continue streaming and playing 3-4 days a week, but not on a set schedule. Some weeks I will grind a lot and multiple days in a row and other weeks I will focus more on studying, creating content and working on the business side of things. I would like to compare it to a car race, but a race of 100 years. There is one driver that uses the same car, same tires all the time and only takes a short break now and then to fuel the car to then continue. Of course the tires will wear a lot, the driver will get exhausted and the times will deteriorate as he goes on. The second driver does it differently, when the car performs well and the tires are good he goes fast and continues driving hard. But when he notices that the tires start to wear or that he gets exhausted, he takes a break to switch the tires, fuel his car and in the meantime gets some rest, studies how the car can be optimized and then gets back on track. He drives less hours than the first driver, but his times are so much better that he starts lapping the first driver over time. The first driver is confused and frustrated that he is behind, how can he be?! He drives way more hours, yet he is getting lapped! It is because it is not solely about how much time you put into something, you also have to be effective and efficient. This is something that is hard to explain to people, they think you should always do more and more and they keep themselves busy and want you to be busy too. But it is important you spend your time wisely, doing the things at the right time and doing more of the things that matter the most.

I just finished some work that I had to do, worked for 3 hours with complete focus and no distractions. I know that it would have taken a day for many, including me if I am not focused. It feels good to get things done, to be proactive and productive. It feels so much better than playing games all day. But there are also times it gets too much, I notice that when I am not as creative, not as focused and more easily agitated. Nowadays when I notice that I go for a run. That has been treating me pretty well, getting some fresh air, exhausting myself and getting all the frustrations out and get my head clear. Also I meditate each day for 10 minutes, try to drink more water and I bought a Tempur pillow to improve my sleep. So happy with the progress I am making and will continue trying to fix problems and optimize as things come up.
